Piotr Lemańczyk is considered one of Europe’s best jazz bass players. He plys concerts and records with such jazz luminaries as Walter Smith III, Jerry Bergonzi, Seamus Blake, Dave Kikoski /USA/, Tim Hagans /USA/, Brian Melvin, Gary Novak, the trumpeter Avishai Cohen, Soweto Kinch and more. Recorded eight records under his own name, which received rave reviews in Down Beat, JazzTimes and Jazz Forum magazines. Winner of jazz competitions: Jazz Juniors ’95 and ’96 in Cracow for outstanding personality, compositions and as best instrumentalist. Jazz nad Odrą ’96 for his compositions and at the Pomeranian Jazz Autumn ’96 where he won the Golden Key to a Career. He is a member of many leading Polish jazz bands and the only European in the US Beatlejazz band. He also took part in recording over forty records with top Polish jazz artists such as Krzesimir Dębski, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Leszek Możdżer, Adam Pierończyk, Maciej Sikała, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Janusz Muniak, Jacek Kochan, Kazimierz Jonkisz, Krystyna Stańko and others. Nominated for the Fryderyk 2011 award in the Jazz Album of the Year category. He is the originator and artistic director of the Kartuzy Jazz Bass Days festival.
